2020-21 Grantees for SoLAR Innovation Funds Announced

“Through the Innovation Funds, instituted as part of the Solar Irrigation for Agricultural Resilience (SoLAR) project, SDC aims to support the development and field-testing of innovative ideas and practices that can help address the challenges in sustainable adoption of solar irrigation pumps among small, marginal and women farmers in the partner countries, thereby enhancing farmer resilience and reducing the carbon footprint of the agriculture sector,” Divya Kashyap, Senior Advisor and Project Manager, Swiss Agency for Development & Cooperation (SDC).

The Project Management Unit (PMU) shortlisted 15 proposals from 87 applications. A technical panel comprising nine experts from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan, and representatives from IWMI and SDC evaluated the selection of grantees on the basis of written proposals and oral presentations. The 2020-21 Grantees were announced on 2nd October 2020.

2021-22 Grantees for SoLAR Innovation Funds Announced

The second round of Innovation Fund grantees for the year 2021-22 has been announced following a detailed selection protocol. A total of 15 proposals were shortlisted from 56 applications. The SoLAR country leads did the initial shortlisting. Then, a technical panel comprising eight experts from Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan and representatives from IWMI and SDC evaluated the selection of grantees based on written proposals and oral presentations. Three finalists were chosen for the innovation grant in 2021-22.
