This one-day workshop aims to bring policymakers, researchers, the private sector, development partners, civil society, and other key stakeholders together to engage in a science-policy dialogue on scaling solar irrigation programs that focuses on inclusion and sustainability.

The Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) is the nodal government agency in charge of implementing solar irrigation subsidy programs under the Renewable Energy Policy and Subsidy Delivery Mechanism. Under the SoLAR project in Nepal, IWMI collaborated with AEPC and other key stakeholders to assess the impact of the government’s solar irrigation programs and explore avenues to scale solar irrigation in the country while ensuring inclusivity and sustainability.

Objectives

The key objectives of the National level Science-Policy Dialogue on Solar Irrigation are:

1. Provide a platform to exchange knowledge on solar irrigation in Nepal.
2. Facilitate policy dialogues with policymakers, development partners, and stakeholders to improve the government’s solar irrigation initiatives and make them more socially inclusive, scalable, and sustainable.
3. Identify key gaps in research and opportunities for future work in Nepal’s solar irrigation sector.

The workshop will be organized as a 1-day event focused on solar irrigation in Nepal with three thematic areas. Each thematic session will have 1-3 presentations and a Panel discussion.
